»The Inside Pockets Of The City«
Abandoned properties, hiding places, left behind and forgotten buildings – all of these places I consider as the „inside pockets“ of a city. Untapped places, which I need to explore and to resource with my own ideas, to free myself of cultural codes and stereotypes. Unknown places which have become even more alien to us as a result of endless restructuring and planning.
My area of retreat is the city of Bozen with it's „inside pockets“. While working on my thesis I am going to find these areas and inhabit them. Progress will be achieved by identifying these areas and making them fit to live in. I want to create a special standard of living by myself, therefore I want to design and establish elementary furnishings. In this way I'm going to bring the deserted places back to life, - for me and for visitors. The whole process is going to be documented in my thesis, however, the main focus lies on the action.
I'm especially interested in the atmosphere of the places. By leaving such places behind, humans are responsible for leading these buildings down the fateful road to decay. At their moment of escape from civillisation they become particularly attractive and valuable to me.
In addition, the reactions of the observers when they see apparently useless and deserted places from a new perspective and suddenly notice they are full of life, are also interesting to me.
This term means the end of my project. I'm going to leave the places that I changed. They are ready to be of use for others now. What they will do with it remains uncertain.

Orte der Leere, Verstecke, verlassene und vergessene Bauten- diese Orte möchte ich als die Innentaschen einer Stadt bezeichnen.
Als speziellen Rückzugsort, während der Erarbeitung meiner Laureatsarbeit, werde ich die Innentaschen der Stadt Bozen aufspüren und bewohnen. Die Fortschritte beim Auffinden, den Status Quo vor Ort bis zum Einrichten und Erarbeiten eines essentiellen Lebensstandards werde ich dokumentarisch festhalten. Hierfür werde ich für diese Orte zugeschnittene, elementare Wohngegenstände konzipieren und fertigen. Durch das Erschaffen dieser Gegenstände werde ich die Orte für Besucher und mich bewohnbar machen; jedoch liegt das Hauptaugenmerk auf der Aktion.
Ein weiterer wichtiger Punkt meiner Arbeit liegt darin, dass ich meinen Besuchern Reaktionen ablesen werde und die Besucher somit in Form von Dokumentationen beitragen.
Mein besonderes Interesse liegt neben der Entdeckung und Dokumentation der Objekte in der Atmosphäre, die diese Orte haben. Die Tatsache, dass Menschen einst über das Schicksal der jeweiligen Gebäude entschieden haben und diese in Vergessenheit gerieten und dem schicksalhaften Verfall überlassen wurden, bietet einen besonderen Reiz.
Dieser Zustand macht diese Gebäude für mich als zeitweiligen „Zivilisationsflüchtling” vollkommen in ihrem unnützen „unvollkommenen” Charakter.
Mein persönlicher Antrieb steckt in der Faszination der zu erwartenden Reaktion, die sich aufzeigen wird, wenn Orte, deren offensichtlicher, zweckbezogener Sinn vergangen ist, neu entdeckt und plötzlich wieder mit Leben erfüllt werden.
Mit dem Semesterende schließe ich das Projekt ab und verlasse jene Orte, die ich verändert habe und stelle sie anderen zur Verfügung. Es bleibt offen, was mein „Nachfolger” damit machen wird.
